Study Carrels
KSL offers graduate student study carrels via an annual lottery, held each September the week after the Labor Day holiday. KSL notifies the carrel assignees by email after the lottery drawing, and winners get to choose carrels for that academic year. We check out the keys to the student's library account, and the keys are due back at the end of the July session the next summer. Students keep a carrel for one academic year, and reapply to the lottery each year.
Carrels are a great place to work quietly, store books that are checked out, and to gather personal items and working papers in one place. Carrels are available on the main floor and the third floor in a variety of spaces, including near the journal and book collections.
Carrel Details:
- On main floor near the front of the building & near the journal shelving along East Blvd.
- On 3rd floor in Quiet Reading Room & perimeter of book shelving along East Blvd.
- Two locking upper bins provide storage space for your materials
- Task light mounted under the upper bins illuminates the 46"x28" desk space
- Electrical outlets in recessed ports save desktop space while saving your batteries
- Photocopiers are conveniently nearby
- Wireless access is available throughout the library, and is most effective in open areas
