Iron Mountain Storage Collections
Collections requiring controlled storage conditions are safely housed at Iron Mountain National Underground Storage, north of Pittsburgh. Case faculty, students & staff may request retrieval to KSL.
Iron Mountain items are retrieved Mon.-Fri. (university holidays excepted).for current Case faculty, staff, & students only. Others, including guests & OhioLINK individuals may request through Interlibrary Loan via their public or other libraries.
- Items are retrieved to KSL for pickup (Items are not sent through Campus Mail.)
- Items retrieved may circulate unless the condition warrants in-library use only.
- Article copies may be requested from journals held at Iron Mountain.
- Requests received prior to 2:00 p.m. are generally returned to KSL by the next weekday business day, usually by mid-afternoon. (Books retrieved are linked to your Case Library Account & will display arrival status.)
Some duplicate titles also may be found in the OhioLINK Central Catalog and may be available for longer borrowing or use ( up to 4 renewals), and may be in more stable condition. Reference staff at KSL (368-6596) will be happy to help with your citation and information about Iron Mountain materials.
How to Request An Iron Mountain Item
If you have your citation information, simply submit an online form. You can also submit a request if you're searching and find an item on the Case Catalog:
- Display the record for the specific item & look on the far right & click on Request This Item
- Fill out the required information (name, status, department, email, etc.)...
- The Catalog should auto-fill the item information.
- Double-check the information, add page numbers or information, as needed.
- Click Submit—you'll receive an email copy of your request.
KSL reserves the right to limit the number of items retrieved per day for a requestor. In the case of numerous multiple requests on a given day, library staff will assist you in prioritizing multiple requests for efficient retrieval, receipt, storage, and use at Kelvin Smith Library.
