Retrospective Research Collections Center
Collections used less frequently or that require a more controlled environment are readily available to Case researchers even though the collections are kept in a nearby facility 1/2 mile from KSL. The library offers Request & Rretrieval services to bring materials back to KSL—search & display an item on the Case Catalog, then simply use the convenient "Request This Item" icon that is on the far right of the item's record.
Researchers and visitors are also welcome to make an appointment to use the collections & enjoy working or reading in the full service reading room at RRCC.
Collections and Services
KSL's RRCC houses older materials and/or itemsthat are used infrequently enough to be kept nearby, thus making more space available in the library for new or heavily-used materials. Currently there are approximately 150,000 volumes at the Retrospective Research Collections Center and you'll see their location displayed on the Case Catalog as "RRCC." Collections at the RRCC include but are not limited to:
- older bound periodicals
- brittle books
- government documents
- Case doctoral dissertations
- Case masters' theses 10+ years old (sciences, engineering, management)
- Case masters' theses 20+ years old (humanities, social sciences)
- less frequently-used monographs.
When what you need is at RRCC, request an article or an item and get it quickly during the week. Request & Retrieval service bring copies and materials back from the RRC to the Kelvin Smith and Kulas Music Libraries every weekday afternoon. (When requests are received by 3 p.m., the materials are back at KSL by approximately 6 p.m. M-F during regular business weeks.) OhioLINK consortium members also can request RRCC books via the OhioLINK Central Catalog.
